US Thrill Rides to Build 'Skyspire' in Philly?

No, you're not having a moment of Deja vu right now. There's a second sky tower ride/attraction planned for the Philadelphia region. This one, however, will actually be in Philadelphia.

US Thrill Rides and the backers behind Casino Revolution are working together on the project. It would be part of the proposed LoSo Entertainment Center next to the casino, located near Front Street and Packer Avenue.

The tower would rise 615ft into the air, that's 10ft taller than Seattle's Space Needle and feature a rotating restaurant and observation deck at the top.

So, what about that coaster looking track? Well, that's actually for gondolas that will seat 10 people each and slowly revolve around the tower on their ascent to the top while offering views of the city and surrounding area. Not sure how you get down, but myself and +Carrie H.C. believe it'll be via an elevator in the center column.

I know what you're probably thinking, why South Philly? To be honest, I'm not 100% sure on that either as there are likely better locations in the city for this. Either way, it could bring about some revitalization to the area as well so it has that going for it.

Of course, this is all dependent upon whether or not Casino Revolution gets approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission but the group behind it might build the entertainment complex anyway. Hard to say right now, but we'll keep a watchful eye on this project as it progresses in the future!
